Three transcription variants of G-CSF gene encoding three different subtypes have been found. Granulocyte/macrophage colony stimulating factor is a cytokine that plays a role in hematopoiesis by controlling the production, differentiation and function of two related leukocyte populations (granulocyte and monocyte-macrophage) in blood. G-CSF is clinically used to promote hematopoietic rec overy after bone marrow transplantation. |
